Two Injured as Reckless Driver Crashes into Vehicles in Central Jakarta
Two people were injured after a black Toyota Calya was driven recklessly, travelling in the wrong direction and colliding with several vehicles in Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta. Both victims sustained minor injuries.
“So far, we have identified two victims. However, both have returned home and sustained only minor injuries,” said the Head of Traffic at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Komarudin, on Thursday (26/2/2026).
In addition to the injured, there was also material damage. Komarudin said that several vehicles were damaged as a result of the car’s reckless driving.
“In terms of material losses, there were several vehicles that we saw on camera that were quite damaged,” he said.
Police revealed that the driver, with the initials HM (25), was using fake license plates. HM also did not have a driving license (SIM) or vehicle registration certificate (STNK).
“The fake license plate used by the perpetrator was D-1640-AHB, which was attached to the vehicle,” said the Head of Public Relations at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, in a statement.
Based on the examination of the vehicle identification number (VIN) and engine number, the vehicle was registered with the license plate B-2932-BZF.
“There was no STNK, and he did not have a SIM,” he said.
In addition, Budi Hermanto revealed that two sharp weapons and a toy revolver were found inside the perpetrator’s car.
“The driver of the Toyota Calya, with the initials HM, has been secured and is currently being questioned further,” he added.
