Two ICI men tried for defamation

JAKARTA: The South Jakarta District Court commenced on Wednesday a defamation hearing against two directors of paint producer PT ICI Paints Indonesia who reported a director colleague to the police for embezzlement.

Prosecutor Jaja Subagja charged Clay Tirtana Subrata and Yoesoef Santo under Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code. The articles carry maximum sentences ranging from nine months to four years in prison.

The panel of judges, which is presided over by Judge Effendi, with members Syamsul Ali and Tjaroko Imam Widodadi, adjourned the hearing until next week.

Subrata and Yoesoef, who are representatives from PT ICI stakeholder PT Dwi Satrya Utama, reported to the police in November last year that Inderadi Kosim, who is a director of ICI Omicron BV, had ignored procedures in the auction of PT ICI's seven operational cars and two motorcycles.

The two were suspicious that Kosim had sold the vehicles without holding an auction and kept the money for himself.--JP
