The Satuan Tugas Percepatan Rehabilitasi dan Rekonstruksi (Satgas PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster is moving swiftly in the recovery from the impacts of hydro-meteorological disasters in three affected provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar). One of the priorities to be expedited after Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 is the construction of permanent housing (huntap) prepared for evacuees whose homes were severely damaged, collapsed, or swept away by floodwaters. The provision of huntap is one of the post-disaster recovery efforts to enable evacuees to rebuild their lives from decent housing. Chairman of Satgas PRR Post-Sumatra Disaster Muhammad Tito Karnavian stated that further coordination with local governments (pemda) will soon be held after Lebaran so that huntap construction can be promptly accelerated. “We have already arranged to meet after this Lebaran with the Minister of PKP to go down and coordinate with the pemdas on which areas are ready to be built, to be built immediately,” said Tito, in a written statement on Sunday (22/3/2026). Huntap construction is being carried out across sectors involving several state institutions such as the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs (Kemenkopolkam), and the Indonesian National Police (Polri). Additionally, there is involvement from private institutions and individuals in the huntap construction in the three affected provinces. Huntap construction will be carried out in two schemes. The first scheme is the in situ method or huntap construction carried out in the area around the previous residence with strict land safety criteria. One of the responsible parties for in situ huntap construction is BNPB. One location for in situ huntap to be handled by BNPB is in Bireuen Regency, where there is a proposal for 365 in situ huntap from the local pemda. The other huntap construction scheme is the communal method or centralised relocation by building on a single expanse of land that has been declared suitable to accommodate residents from areas that are no longer safe to inhabit. The Ministry of PKP is one of the institutions preparing the communal scheme for huntap construction. In total, Satgas PRR records plans for huntap construction in the three affected provinces reaching 36,669 units, with 110 of them already completed and another 1,359 units in the construction process. While awaiting the completion of huntap construction, Satgas PRR is also striving to provide decent housing for evacuees through the preparation of temporary housing (huntara) and Housing Waiting Funds (DTH) of Rp 1.8 million for evacuees who wish to rent a house.
