Two Houses Destroyed in Muara Angke Fire, Suspected Electrical Short Circuit
Jakarta — A fire broke out at two residential houses located on Jalan Dermaga Ujung, Muara Angke, Penjaringan, North Jakarta on Monday evening, 1 June 2026.
Gatot Sulaeman, the operational chief of the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service Subunit (Gulkarmat), revealed that the incident was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
“It is believed to be due to an electrical short circuit. Residents observed the fire originating from the residence of Mr. Sukanta. The residents then contacted the North Jakarta Fire Service requesting assistance to extinguish the fire,” he said when confirmed by Kompas.com on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
The fire was successfully contained at 21:43 WIB, with firefighting operations concluding at 22:05 WIB.
“We deployed 15 units and 75 personnel. Two houses were destroyed,” Gatot stated.
Gatot confirmed there were no fatalities resulting from the fire incident.
“There were zero casualties. Two family heads, or eight individuals in total, were rescued,” he added.
