Two Hajj pilgrims from the area have reportedly passed away in Mecca while performing the 1447 AH/2026 Hajj rituals.

Husna Mustopa, Head of the Tasikmalaya Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Office, confirmed both deceased were elderly. They were Mahsunah, 81, from Mugarsari Village in Tamansari District, and Adah, 76, from Babakan Tengah Village in Kawalu District.

“Innalillahi wainnailaihi rojiun, we express our deepest condolences. Mahsunah, from Kloter 28 KJT, passed away on 26 May 2026 after three days of treatment at German Hospital in Mecca. Adah, from Kloter 20 KJT, died on 28 May 2026 while preparing to perform the Wuquf at Arafah,” Husna Mustopa stated on Friday, 29 May 2026.

Husna explained that Mahsunah was buried in Mecca, while Adah was interred in Mina, Saudi Arabia. Although both departed in good health from the Indramayu Embarkation Point, age was suspected to have contributed to their declining health during the pilgrimage.

The Tasikmalaya Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has informed the families and the relevant Hajj Guidance Groups (KBIHU), namely KBIHU Al Amin Riyadul Jannah and KBIH As Surur. “The families have accepted the news and immediately held a tahlil ceremony upon receiving the report,” she added.

Separately, Acting Mayor of Tasikmalaya, Diky Candra Negara, conveyed profound condolences on behalf of the local government. He prayed for the deceased to be granted the best place with Allah SWT and for their families to receive strength.

“We urge the public to pray for our Hajj pilgrims, especially those from Tasikmalaya, for strength and health until their return home. May the deceased be accepted in their faith and attain a good end,” Diky concluded.
