Two foreign nationals deported from Tanjungpinang for immigration violations

The Tanjungpinang Immigration Detention Centre (Rudenim) in the Riau Islands has deported two foreign nationals, one from Palestine and one from Nigeria, for violating residence permit and travel document requirements.

Head of the Placement, Security, Repatriation and Deportation Division at Tanjungpinang Rudenim, I Wayan Putu Wiadnya, said on Thursday that the two foreign nationals were deported on Tuesday (18/8) through the Immigration Checkpoint at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang.

He explained that the Palestinian national was subject to immigration administrative action because his residence permit had expired, yet he remained in Indonesian territory, as stipulated in Article 78 paragraph (3) of Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian national was unable to present travel documents or a residence permit to officers, and was therefore subject to action under Article 71 letter b of the Immigration Law.

Prior to their repatriation, both individuals underwent detention at the Tanjungpinang Rudenim. Officers ensured that all stages, from identity verification and security to the fulfilment of travel documents, were carried out in accordance with regulations.

Wayan said deportation is part of immigration administrative action against foreigners who violate immigration provisions.

“We repatriate them and ensure the entire process is carried out professionally, in an orderly manner, safely and accountably,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Tanjungpinang Rudenim Erybowo Radyan Asmono said the deportation was part of immigration law enforcement as well as an effort to maintain order regarding the presence of foreigners in Indonesia.

“Immigration law enforcement is an important part of safeguarding state sovereignty, but it must still be carried out firmly, professionally and with a humanist approach,” said Erybowo.

He stressed that every foreign national is obliged to comply with immigration rules and legal provisions in Indonesia. When a violation occurs, the state must provide legal certainty.

According to him, every immigration administrative action is carried out to ensure legal certainty, security and order regarding the presence of foreigners in Indonesia.

“The deportation of these foreign nationals is part of Rudenim’s commitment to maintaining order regarding the presence of foreigners in Indonesia,” he said.
