Two Executors of Australian Resident's Murder in Canggu Sentenced to 16 Years Imprisonment
Tupou Pasa Midolmore (27) and Coskunmevlut (23) have been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment in connection with the shooting that killed Australian resident Zivan Radmanovic. Both men were contract killers who executed the shooting at a villa in the Canggu area, North Kuta, Badung, Bali.
The panel of judges at the Denpasar District Court (PN) charged both defendants under Article 340 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) clause 1 KUHP concerning premeditated murder committed jointly. The panel of judges found that both defendants’ actions were proven to have resulted in the victim’s death.
“We hereby judge and declare the defendants proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt of committing murder,” said the presiding judge when reading the verdict in the courtroom of PN Denpasar on Monday, 9 March 2026.
The verdict was lighter than the public prosecutor’s earlier demand, which sought 18 years imprisonment for each defendant. The panel of judges stated that the defendants’ actions had caused public unrest and tarnished Bali’s image as an international tourist destination.
The panel of judges cited mitigating factors regarding the defendants’ courteous conduct during the trial and their lack of prior convictions. Following the verdict reading, both the public prosecutor and the defendants’ legal representatives expressed their intention to consider appeal.
The legal representative of the victim’s family, Sari Latief, stated that the family was deeply disappointed with the court’s verdict imposing 16 years imprisonment on the two defendants. According to Sari, the verdict did not serve as a deterrent to the two defendants.
“After hearing the verdict, the family is truly disappointed. We were left speechless. The verdict does not seem to provide a deterrent effect,” said Sari Latief following the trial at PN Denpasar.
“This is deeply disappointing for the family. They hoped for a heavier sentence, at least in line with the prosecutor’s demand,” she added.
According to detikBali’s monitoring, the victim’s family, consisting of his wife, child, and several relatives of the victim, were seen immediately leaving the courtroom. They exited the courtroom and left the PN Denpasar building without speaking much to the media.
“The family is deeply shocked. After hearing the verdict, they chose to leave immediately because of their disappointment,” said Sari.
The trial continued with a verdict hearing for another defendant, Darcy Francesco Jenson. Darcy Francesco Jenson was previously sought with 17 years imprisonment. The prosecutor stated that Darcy was proven to have assisted in the murder.
The case originated from a shooting incident at a villa in the Canggu area in the early hours of 14 June 2025. The victim, Zivan Radmanovic, died from gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, another victim, Sanar Ghanim, suffered serious injuries.
