Two Domestic Workers Jump from Fourth Floor in Bendungan Hilir Suspected to Have Suffered Psychological Pressure
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Two domestic workers (ARTs) who jumped from the fourth floor of a house in Bendungan Hilir, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday 22 April 2026, are suspected to have been under psychological pressure.
Based on police and medical examinations, there were no signs of physical violence on the victims’ bodies.
‘The results of the examination showed no physical violence; there may have been psychological pressure,’ said the head of the Jakarta Central Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, when met at Cawan Barat, National Monument, on Thursday 21 May 2026.
However, Roby has not explained how the initial admissions relate to the psychological pressure experienced by the victims.
To date, police have named three suspects in the case, in connection with suspected human trafficking (TPPO).
‘The victims have been interviewed. The three suspects are in detention, including one employer and two labour recruiters,’ Roby said.
Because the labour recruitment agencies who placed the victims knew at recruitment that one of the victims was underage.
Public Relations Head of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said the agencies had known since the recruitment of the victims.
‘From the three suspects, it was known that the person involved was a minor and thus employed. From job seekers to the service providers, including those who employed them,’ Budi told reporters at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Friday (8 May 2026).
They immediately accepted the victims on the basis of their family cards and photos.
Therefore, the three are charged under Article 76I of Law Number 35 of 2014 on the exploitation of children under eighteen.
‘That is why these three people face criminal charges under the Child Protection Act,’ said Budi.
As previously reported, two female domestic workers identified by initials D (18) and R (30) jumped from the fourth floor of a boarding house in Bendungan Hilir, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on the night of Wednesday 22 April 2026.
