Two die in toll accident

JAKARTA: Two people died in a fatal collision between a Kijang minivan and a bus at the kilometer 37 mark on the Cikampek- Jakarta toll road, near Cikarang, Bekasi, on Sunday morning.

The minivan driver, police officer Brig. Jumari, died instantly in the accident. An unidentified passenger, who fell from the Sumber Alam bus at the time of the collision, died of severe injuries at the state-run Bekasi General Hospital.

Bekasi Police traffic unit chief Adj. Comr. Gatot Subroto said Jumari was on his way home to Cikarang.

"One of Jumari's tires burst, causing the minivan to cross over the central reservation. Unfortunately, the bus, which was coming in the opposite direction, was unable to avoid the minivan," Gatot said, citing witnesses' accounts.

The driver of the Sumber Alam bus, Yulianto, suffered severe injuries and is being treated at Bekasi General Hospital. --Antara.
