Two defendants in a criminal corruption case involving the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) budget in East Sumba, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), Sacarias Lenggu and Sedelti Remi, have been demanded eight years in prison. The prosecution hearing took place at the Kupang Corruption Court (Tipikor) on Monday (20/4/2026).

Sacarias served as the Commitment Making Official (PPK). Meanwhile, Sedelti acted as the Treasurer of the East Sumba General Elections Commission (KPU). Both have been lawfully and convincingly proven guilty in the corruption of funds for the East Sumba Pilkada in the 2024 Fiscal Year (TA).

The hearing was presided over by the Chief Justice of the Panel, I Nyoman Agus Hermawan, along with two other members, Raden Haris Prasetyo and Agustina Lamabelawa. The public prosecutor (JPU) was represented by Bagus Aulia Yusril Imtihan. The two defendants were each accompanied by their respective lawyers.

In the indictment, the JPU stated that Sacarias and Sedelti have been lawfully and convincingly proven guilty of committing the criminal act of corruption. They are deemed to have violated Article 603 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the KUHP.

For their actions, Sacarias and Sedelti are demanded eight years in prison, minus the time already served in detention. The JPU also requested that the judges keep Sacarias and Sedelti in custody and impose a fine of Rp 400 million. If the fine is not paid, it shall be replaced with three months imprisonment.

Additionally, they are burdened with repaying over Rp 1.2 billion in restitution. If this restitution is not paid within one month after the verdict, their assets shall be seized and auctioned to cover it.

However, Sedelti has already made a repayment of Rp 30 million. This amount is part of the state losses, but with the stipulation that if it is not fully paid within one month as mentioned, their assets shall be seized and auctioned to cover the restitution.

“If the defendant does not have sufficient assets to pay the restitution, they shall be sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison, or if the defendant pays an amount less than the full obligation, the paid amount shall be taken into account in the duration of the additional prison sentence as a substitute for the restitution obligation,” stated the JPU in the indictment obtained by detikBali on Monday.

Following the prosecution, Sacarias and Sedelti, through their lawyers, immediately submitted a plea or defence. The hearing with the plea agenda will continue on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
