A judge at the Jakarta Military Court has handed down prison sentences of 1.5 to 3 years to four defendants in the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The judge also imposed an additional sentence of dismissal from military service on two of the four defendants. The verdict hearing was held at Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. The four defendants in this case are defendant I Second Sergeant Edi Sudarko, defendant II First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, defendant III Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo, and defendant IV First Lieutenant Sami Lakka. The defendants dismissed from military service were defendant I Edi Sudarko and defendant II Budhi Hariyanto Widhi. Edi was sentenced to 3 years in prison, while Budhi was sentenced to 2.5 years. ‘Defendant I, principal punishment of 3 years imprisonment. The time the defendant has spent in detention shall be fully deducted from the sentence imposed. Additional punishment: dismissal from military service,’ the judge stated when reading the ruling. ‘Defendant II, principal punishment of 2 years and 6 months imprisonment. The time the defendant has spent in detention shall be fully deducted from the sentence imposed. Additional punishment: dismissal from military service,’ the judge continued. The judge did not impose the additional penalty of dismissal from military service on defendant III Nandala and defendant IV Sami Lakka. The judge declared all four defendants guilty of committing assault resulting in serious injury to Andrie. ‘Proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing the criminal act as charged in the more subsidiary indictment, jointly participating in premeditated assault resulting in serious injury,’ the judge stated. Defendant I Second Sergeant Edi Sudarko received a 3-year prison sentence and dismissal from military service. Defendant II First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi received a 2.5-year prison sentence and dismissal from military service. Defendant III Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo received a 2-year prison sentence. Defendant IV First Lieutenant Sami Lakka received a 1.5-year prison sentence. The judge stated the defendants were guilty of violating Article 467 paragraph 1 in conjunction with paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. Previously, military prosecutors had sought a 2.5-year prison sentence for the four TNI soldiers accused in the acid attack. The prosecutors were convinced that all four defendants were proven guilty of carrying out the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. The sentencing hearing took place at Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday, 3 June. The prosecutors did not seek the additional penalty of dismissal from military service for any of the four defendants.
