Two Dead as Persib Championship Celebrations Leave Alcohol Waste Filling Pickup Truck
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan revealed that alcohol consumption during Persib’s championship celebrations resulted in two fatalities. The Bandung City Government will continue aggressive raids to eradicate alcohol, following the discovery of enough alcohol bottles to fill a pickup truck over two nights.
Farhan stated that both deaths were due to traffic accidents allegedly caused by alcohol. ‘Last night, a second fatality was recorded in a traffic accident linked to alcohol. We have collected enough alcohol bottles to fill a pickup truck over two nights,’ he said on Monday (25 May). ‘We will conduct a thorough crackdown on alcohol due to its severe consequences,’ he added.
Farhan confirmed that the celebrations concluded on Sunday (24 May) evening and warned against further gatherings for security reasons. ‘No more Persib-related events tonight as the President is arriving. Security across Bandung has been tightened,’ he stressed.
Currently, Farhan is awaiting a full report on the total waste collected during the celebrations. He also reported damage to 35 parks across the city.
