Two Days Before Eid, Motorcycle Commuters Queue Snakes at Ciwandan

Based on observations at the location around 3:00 a.m. WIB, the second wave of two-wheeled vehicle arrivals continues to experience a significant increase as the workers’ holiday period begins. This situation has caused the 12 lanes in the buffer zone provided by the port authority to be fully occupied by thousands of motorcycle commuters. Due to the dense volume of vehicles arriving simultaneously in the early hours, the queue of commuters appears to overflow and snake long within the Ciwandan Port area. This density of commuter traffic directly impacts operational waiting times, where ferry service users must endure quite a long wait before boarding the ship deck. One motorcycle commuter, Doni Irawan, from Tangerang heading to Lampung, confirmed the condition, stating that the surge occurred due to simultaneous holiday schedules. “I arrived at the front around one o’clock (early morning), it’s now three o’clock and I’m still waiting to board the ship. Many workers are just starting their holidays, that’s why it’s so crowded,” the commuter said at the location. Meanwhile, this high commuter flow aligns with real-time data from PT Pelindo on 19 March at 11:24 a.m. WIB, which recorded 19,666 two-wheeled vehicles passing through, accompanied by 30,489 passengers and 341 truck fleets.
