Two Couriers of 58 kg of Methamphetamine Sentenced to Life Imprisonment
The Jambi District Court has sentenced Agit Putra Ramadan and Juniardo, also known as Ardo, to life imprisonment after they were found guilty of acting as couriers for 58 kilograms of methamphetamine. The panel of judges declared that the two defendants were legally and convincingly proven to have acted as intermediaries in the sale and delivery of the narcotics.
In the ruling read on Thursday, the judges stated that the verdict was in line with the demands of the Jambi Public Prosecutor’s Office. The court also ordered the seizure of several mobile phones, along with a Toyota Fortuner and a Toyota Innova Reborn, which were reportedly used in the commission of the crime. The judges noted that the two vehicles were also used in a separate case involving a defendant named M. Ramadhan, also known as Alung, who is suspected of being the controller of the drug trafficking network.
The defendants were charged under Article 114, paragraph 2, in conjunction with Article 132, paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The panel of judges granted both the defendants and the public prosecutor seven days to consider whether to accept the verdict or file an appeal.
