Two suspects in the corruption case of furniture procurement at the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Education and Culture Office (Dikbud) in 2022 for SMKs in NTB will not be detained in a cell. The Mataram District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) has designated both suspects as city detainees. “Regarding the two suspects, the prosecutor has imposed city detention in the Mataram city area for 20 days,” stated the Head of Kejari Mataram, Gde Made Pasek Swardhyana, on Tuesday (5/5/2026). The two suspects are I Ketut Swardhana, the former Head of Infrastructure for the SMK Sector at Dikbud NTB and the commitment-making official (PPK), and Muhammad Jakaria, the supplier. This city detention runs from 5 to 24 May 2026. Both suspects have been made city detainees because they are considered cooperative during the investigation process. The suspects are assessed as having no intention to flee or destroy evidence. “And there has been a return of state financial losses,” he added. During the city detention period, both suspects are supervised by being fitted with monitoring bracelets. “For supervision purposes, the suspects are fitted with an electronic monitoring device (APE) in the form of a detention bracelet,” he said. The prosecutor decided not to detain the suspects after receiving the transfer of the suspects and evidence in the case from investigators at the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the NTB Provincial Police. During the second phase implementation, evidence in the form of Rp 2.8 billion in cash was also handed over. “That money is deposited in another consignment account (RTL) of Kejari Mataram,” he said. Both suspects have not been detained since being designated as suspects on 14 January 2025. This was confirmed by the Deputy Head of Special Criminal Investigation at NTB Provincial Police, AKBP Wendy Andrianto. “Not detained during the investigation process, but we will secure them when handed over to the prosecutor, and the suspects are also cooperative,” he said. Wendy previously stated that his side had seized state loss money amounting to Rp 2.8 billion in the case. The state loss money became seized evidence after suspect Muhammad Jakaria returned it. “The money returned by the suspect has been seized by us,” said Wendy. It was stated that the furniture procurement project was for 40 SMKs in NTB. The budget came from the 2022 special allocation funds (DAK), with a budget ceiling of Rp 10.2 billion. During the investigation, investigators found several irregularities in the procurement. These included the failure to prepare technical specifications and price surveys, full payment for work even though it was not completed, “and the diversion of part of the work to other parties not in accordance with the contract,” he said. The state loss of Rp 2.8 billion was based on calculations by the NTB Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
