Two commit suicide in Tangerang

TANGERANG: Two men were found dead in their houses after they committed suicide at two separate locations in Tangerang on Sunday evening and on Monday morning.

The victims were Johan Darmawan, 35, a resident of Graha Lestari housing complex in Jurang Mangu Barat subdistrict, Pondok Aren district in Tangerang regency and Slamat Ediono, 65, a resident of Jl. Matahari, Sudimara subdistrict, Pinang district of Tangerang municipality.

Johan, who was still single, was first found by a relative identified as Ilham Purtranto, 45, a resident of Jl. Bojong Raya, Bandung, West Java, who came to visit the victim at his house.

"When I arrived at the house on Friday, the door was locked. I came back on Saturday but the door was still locked. I returned again on Monday and the door was still locked so then I asked neighbors to break into the house. "We found him (Johan) dead in the house," he said.

The police alleged that the victim was frustrated since he had failed to find a suitable woman for a future wife.

Separately, Slamat Ediono was first found dead by his wife Nani, 45 in the house. Before committing suicide, the victim wrote a letter that reads, "... you just satisfy yourself -- prostitute, money extorter ..."

Cipondoh Police chief Insp. Sudaryo alleged that the victim committed suicide because his wife, who is still being questioned by police, had sex with other men.

The bodies were sent to Tangerang General Hospital morgue.--JP
