Two children were swept away while swimming at Skip Beach and Karang Buyuk Beach in Ampenan District, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Friday (29/5/2026).

The identities of the missing children are Pietro Alesandro Seda (13) and Anindita Mantika Muslim (9), both residents of Ampenan, Mataram.

“Search operations for the victims are ongoing,” said Ampenan Police Station Chief, AKP Muhammad Ryanto, on Friday (29/5/2026).

Pietro was swept away at Skip Beach. He was swimming with eight friends when large waves suddenly came and dragged them out to sea.

“All of the victim’s friends managed to reach the shore safely. However, upon regrouping, they realised the victim was missing and is believed to still be at sea,” Ryanto said.

Meanwhile, Anindita was swept away at Karang Buyuk Beach. She was playing near the shoreline when large waves suddenly came and dragged her out to sea.

Ryanto confirmed both children are still being searched for, with the search being conducted alongside the Mataram Search and Rescue Office team.

“Both victims are still under search and rescue operations by the joint team. We hope the victims can be found soon,” Ryanto added.
