Two Children Dead After Being Left Alone During House Fire in Lampung

Two children were found dead after being trapped in a fire that raked through their home in Budi Aji Village, Simpang Pematang District, Mesuji Regency, Lampung. The fire is suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit.

The fire occurred in the early hours of Sunday (30/08/2026). The Mesuji Regency Fire, Rescue, and Disaster Management (Damkarmat) Department received the report at 02:44 WIB.

The Head of the Mesuji Regency Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Ronal, stated that the fire report was submitted by the Head of Budi Aji Village, Nurul, via the 112 Call Centre service. Personnel from Damkarmat Squad C, alongside the BPBD team, immediately proceeded to the location.

“As soon as we received the report, we deployed personnel to the site to carry out firefighting and fire management,” said Ronal.

Officers arrived at the scene at 03:01 WIB. During the firefighting process, officers received information that children were still inside the building.

“We received information that children were trapped inside the house because they had been left by both of their parents. The team then carried out an evacuation,” he said.

During the evacuation process, officers discovered two victims who had passed away. Both victims were one male and one female.

“There were two fatalities, one male and one female. Both have been evacuated by the officers,” he explained.

The firefighting and cooling process lasted approximately three hours and utilised three water tanks. Officers stated that the situation at the location was safe and under control by around 06:00 WIB.
