Two Central Lombok Recidivists Arrested for Motorcycle and Mobile Phone Thefts Across Multiple Locations

Two recidivists from Central Lombok, identified as A alias Bucung (49) and SI alias Kepol (27), have been arrested again by police. This time, they were detained in connection with motorcycle and mobile phone thefts at several locations in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

“Both were successfully secured in the Narmada area, West Lombok. They are recidivists,” said Mataram Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP I Made Dharma Yulia Putra on Sunday (23/8/2026).

Dharma revealed that Bucung and Kepol were arrested on Friday (21/8). The arrest was based on a report of a PCX motorcycle theft in Batu Kumbung Village, Lingsar District, West Lombok. The theft occurred on Wednesday (19/8) evening.

“At that time, the victim parked his motorcycle on the terrace of his house,” Dharma added.

According to Dharma, the victim only realised his motorcycle was missing in the morning and reported the incident to the police. When interrogated by police, the perpetrators admitted to stealing the victim’s motorcycle by damaging the ignition lock using tools they had prepared.

“The victim’s motorcycle was then sold in the Central Lombok area,” he said.

In addition to arresting the two perpetrators, police also seized a number of pieces of evidence, including motorcycles, vehicle documents, sharp weapons, and various tools used by the perpetrators during their crimes.

Based on the investigation results, the two perpetrators were found to have committed thefts in several places in West Lombok, including stealing a Vario motorcycle in Narmada, a mobile phone and motorcycle in Selat Village, Narmada District, a mobile phone and motorcycle in the Gegelang area, Lingsar District, a motorcycle in Golong Village, Narmada District, and a mobile phone theft in Selat Village, Narmada District.

“The perpetrators have repeatedly committed thefts within the jurisdiction of the Mataram Police,” said Dharma.

Currently, the perpetrators and evidence are being held at the Mataram Police station for further investigation. Both are charged under Article 477 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
