Two Candidates for Golkar West Java Chair Strengthen Supporter Consolidation
Two candidates for the Chair of the DPD Partai Golkar Jawa Barat are refining their preparations to face the regional congress, scheduled for early April. Ahmad Hidayat and Daniel Mutaqien Syafiuddin are strengthening their ranks of supporters to garner votes.
Ahmad Hidayat claims that support for him continues to flow ahead of the congress. The preparations he has undertaken are already maximal.
This man is a pure cadre who has grown through a long internal party process, not born from a line of political inheritance.
Ahmad’s experience has been forged from the district to provincial levels, building a strong closeness with the party’s grassroots structures. His role as a member of the West Java DPRD as well as Chair of AMPI Jabar serves as proof of his consistency in cadre development.
Not many know that Ahmad is also known as a figure politically close to the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi. He is often referred to as the “political younger brother” who has supported Kang Dedi Mulyadi’s (KDM) political career journey.
His leadership track record has been evident since his student days at Universitas Islam Bandung (Unisba). At that time, Ahmad was active as an activist and once served as Chair of the Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (HMI) at his campus.
Support for Ahmad continues to grow from the Dewan Pimpinan Daerah (DPD) at the district and city levels. “To date, I have secured support from 11 DPDs,” he revealed.
This support underscores his position as a figure to be reckoned with.
Ahmad’s main strength lies in his solid structural network and the loyalty of cadres in the regions. This base is considered an important foundation in steering the future leadership direction of Golkar West Java.
Amid the contestation, Ahmad brings a leadership approach based on cadres and organisation. This model becomes a differentiator in the dynamics of the ongoing internal party selection.
Formally, Ahmad has also registered himself as a candidate for Chair of the DPD Partai Golkar Jawa Barat. The registration was made to the Musda 2026 Committee at the DPD Partai Golkar Jabar Building, Jalan Maskumambang, Bandung City, on Wednesday (1/4).
National network
Meanwhile, his rival, Daniel Mutaqien Syafiuddin, brings the strength of a wide national network. This DPR RI member has extensive experience at the central level as well as active involvement in various political and youth organisations.
Daniel relies on elite-level relations and cross-organisational experience as his main capital. His presence remains an important factor that adds colour to the dynamics of the Golkar West Java Congress.
This congress is not merely an arena for leadership transition, but also a determinant of the party’s strategic direction in West Java. The chosen figure will hold an important role in facing future political agendas.
The two candidates are DPR RI member Daniel Mutaqien Syafiuddin and West Java DPRD member Ahmad Hidayat, who is also Chair of AMPI West Java.
