Out of five buses inspected during a ramp check, two vehicles were declared unroadworthy, said Sandi, Head of Tanjung Priok Bus Terminal, in Jakarta on Saturday.

He explained that the two unroadworthy buses were a Haryanto coach operating the Jakarta-Kudus route and a Sinar Jaya coach on the Jakarta-Purbalingga route. The Haryanto bus lacked a valid inspection certificate and had non-functional emergency doors. The Sinar Jaya bus failed inspection due to an expired permit, non-functional emergency doors, and vulcanised tyre issues.

“We will follow up these findings with the bus companies to either replace the vehicles with roadworthy ones or conduct repairs,” he said.

Sandi previously confirmed that all inter-city buses (AKAP) entering Tanjung Priok Terminal undergo inspection. In addition to vehicle condition checks, drivers who will transport passengers during the 2026 Mudik season also undergo health assessments.

Terminal management has prepared supporting facilities to handle the expected surge in passenger numbers during Mudik. The public has been urged to maintain safety awareness throughout their journey. Those planning to travel are advised to ensure their homes are secure before departure and to avoid wearing conspicuous jewellery whilst travelling.

“We hope that through inspections of vehicle conditions and facility readiness, the Mudik traffic flow at Tanjung Priok Terminal can proceed safely, orderly, and comfortably for the public,” he said.

Additionally, the terminal has established a health post in cooperation with local health centres and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN). “This includes health checks and urine tests for drivers,” he added.
