Two Bridges at Once: Here's the Progress of Infrastructure Development in Bengkalis
Infrastructure development in Bengkalis Regency is now showing significant progress with the simultaneous start of work on two Merah Putih Presisi Bridges Phase II. Marked by the installation of foundation piles, this project initiated by the Riau Regional Police is projected to provide a solution in smoothing community mobility.
The two bridges are respectively located in Tanjung Belit Village, Siak Kecil Subdistrict, and Damon Ward, Bengkalis Subdistrict. The first bridge project in Tanjung Belit Village, Siak Kecil Subdistrict, is currently demonstrating ongoing significant construction progress.
Meanwhile, construction of the second bridge officially began in Damon Ward, Bengkalis Subdistrict, Bengkalis Regency, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the installation of the first pile on Thursday, 16 April 2026. The event served as the initial milestone for the physical construction, which has undergone thorough data collection and field survey stages.
The Merah Putih Presisi Bridge Programme itself is part of the Indonesian National Police’s efforts to support national development, while strengthening synergy between security apparatus and the community. The presence of these bridges is also expected to improve the quality of life for the community, particularly in terms of access to basic services and inter-regional connectivity.
With the start of Phase II construction, the people of Bengkalis Regency are welcoming it with great hope that the project can proceed smoothly and be completed on time. Support from various parties, both local government and the local community, is the key to the success of this development.
Bengkalis Police Chief, AKBP Fahrian Saleh Siregar, stated that the construction of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge is not merely a physical project, but a tangible manifestation of the National Police’s presence in addressing community needs, especially in remote areas.
“The construction of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge is a form of our commitment to supporting improved community accessibility. We want to ensure that people in remote areas can experience easier access, both for economic activities, education, and health services,” said Fahrian on Monday (20/4/2026).
He emphasised that infrastructure development such as bridges has a significant impact on community economic growth. With better transportation access opened up, the distribution of agricultural, plantation, and fishery products will become smoother, thereby able to enhance residents’ welfare.
“Through this programme, we hope to accelerate the wheels of the community’s economy. This bridge will later become an important connector that facilitates residents’ activities and opens up new economic opportunities in the area,” he concluded.
