Two Banten villages involved in brawl

SERANG, Banten: Residents of two neighboring villages in Serang and Tangerang regencies were involved in a fierce brawl early on Tuesday morning.

The brawl started when several residents of Bendungan village in Serang Regency launched fireworks in the direction of Kedung Village.

The Kedung residents then attacked Bendungan in retaliation, leaving two villagers seriously injured.

Sukma bin Herman and Rakhmat bin Surian were badly wounded when they were attacked by Kedung residents with machetes.

The attackers also ransacked three houses and a small mosque in Bendungan.

Insp. Krihadi of the Serang Police said police were still investigating the incident. --Antara
