Two Banten Regional Police Brimob Officers Mobbed and Macheted by Debt Collectors

A group of debt collectors mobbed and attacked two members of the Banten Regional Police Brimob unit in Serang City on Tuesday (2/6) night, at approximately 10:00 PM WIB. The two Brimob members who were slashed are currently receiving medical treatment at the Banten Regional Police Bhayangkara Hospital.

“During the forced repossession attempt, there were two victims who are Brimob personnel, and they are currently being treated,” stated the Head of Public Relations for the Banten Regional Police, Kombes Pol Maruli Ahiles Hutapea, at his office on Wednesday (3/6).

The incident began on Tuesday afternoon when approximately 11 debt collectors spread across Serang City, Banten, to repossess a car driven by the two Brimob officers. Around 10:00 PM WIB, a disturbance broke out in the Legok area of Serang City. The two Brimob members were mobbed by the group of 11 debt collectors.

Local residents attempted to intervene and assist the two officers during the assault, which ultimately escalated to the debt collectors slashing Bripda FN and Bripda YSB with weapons. “One person sustained an injury to the right arm and another to the head. They are currently receiving treatment at the Banten Regional Police Bhayangkara Hospital and have received blood transfusions,” he explained.

During the incident, five additional Brimob personnel arrived to assist Bripda FN and Bripda YSB. With the help of local residents, the officers managed to apprehend two debt collectors near the Serang Barat Toll Gate, and the suspects have since been taken to the Banten Regional Police Criminal Investigation Directorate.

“They were pursued towards Serang Barat. The perpetrators were caught along with their vehicle near the Serang Barat toll gate,” he clarified.
