Two Articulated Lorries Collide on North Jakarta Road, Driver Killed After Unable to Climb Gradient

JAKARTA — Two articulated lorries collided on Jalan Kapuk Kamal Raya, Penjaringan, North Jakarta on Thursday 12 March 2026 at approximately 22:00 local time.

The accident was caused by an articulated lorry driven by SM being unable to climb a steep gradient. According to AKP Edy Wibowo, head of the traffic unit at North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, the driver of the articulated lorry eventually reversed, striking the articulated lorry driven by TS that was travelling in the same direction behind it.

“The vehicle reversed and struck the trailer driven by TS that was travelling in the same direction behind it,” he explained when confirmed by Kompas.com on Friday 13 March 2026.

As a result of the accident, the driver of TS died at the scene. The North Jakarta Police force is currently investigating the precise cause of the accident.

“The investigation is still ongoing,” he stated.
