Two Arrested, Police Hunt Remaining Attackers in Central Kalimantan Drug Raid Ambush
A joint team from the Central Kalimantan Regional Police and the Katingan Resort Police has arrested a man with the initials R, suspected of involvement in an attack on Narcotics Investigation Unit personnel during a drug case operation in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Central Katingan District. “It is true, we have secured a man with the initials R who is also suspected of being involved in the attack on our members in Katingan,” said Katingan Police Chief AKBP Dodik Hartono when confirmed in Palangka Raya on Sunday. He stated the arrest was the result of an investigation development carried out by the joint team after previously detaining several suspected perpetrators. According to him, investigators are still examining R’s role in the attack that killed two Katingan Police personnel. “Currently, the suspected perpetrator is still being questioned and the investigation is ongoing,” he said. Dodik emphasised that the pursuit of other suspected perpetrators is continuing. The joint team from the Central Kalimantan Regional Police and Katingan Resort Police remains active in the field to develop the investigation based on witness statements and collected evidence. “The other suspected perpetrators are still being pursued by the joint team. We will continue to develop the case until all parties involved are apprehended,” he said. The incident occurred when Narcotics Unit personnel were taking action against a suspected methamphetamine dealer in Tumbang Kalemei Village in the early hours of Thursday, 2 July. During the operation, officers were reportedly met with resistance from several individuals armed with sharp weapons. In the incident, Aipda Yudhi Perdana Putra died while on duty. Bripda Nopandri Ramadhana was later found dead in the Katingan River after being reported missing. Meanwhile, the search for Aiptu Sumaryanto is still being conducted by the joint team. Dodik affirmed the police’s commitment to thoroughly investigating the case and hunting down all parties suspected of involvement in the attack on Indonesian National Police personnel.
