Two arrested for thefts

DENPASAR, Bali: Bali police have arrested two men for stealing motorcycles and seized six stolen motorcycles from them.

The head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Sr. Insp. Wawan Ridwan, told reporters on Tuesday that the two suspects, both of whom hail from Banyuwangi, East Java, were identified as Adenan (21) and Eko Budiono (25).

Adenan was nabbed at his boarding house on Jl. Tukad Pakerisan, South Denpasar, two days ago, while Eko was picked up from his residence in Banyuwangi, following a tip-off from Adenan, Wawan explained.

The officer said that his men had to shoot Adenan who tried to flee on the way to Eko's home in Banyuwangi.

One of Eko and Adenan's accomplices, identified as Imam, was still at large.

According to Wawan, the gang had been involved in a series of motorcycle thefts in various places in Denpasar. (zen)
