Two arrested for cable theft

MAGELANG, Central Java: Magelang Police have arrested two men
for stealing electric cables, telephone wires and seized three
sacks of wires, saws and a bicycle as evidence, Magelang Police
chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Sugeng Priyanto said on Friday.

The two suspects, found to be ex-convicts for a similar crime,
identified only as RSD (26) and HYD (30) were picked up at their
residences in Mertoyudan district in the regency of Magelang on
Thursday, Antara reported.

"They also operated in the capital of Central Java, Semarang,
with six others accomplices, who are still at large," Sugeng
said, adding that the six were identified only as MDN, MTO, YNT,
NRD, SLM and ATM.

"The two had stolen wires at 10 different places and collected
almost 1,700 meters of wire, which they sold to
buyers in Magelang for more than Rp 3.8 million," said Sugeng.
