Two Arrested After Police Chief Attacked While Breaking Up Street Brawl in Kendal

Two individuals have been arrested following the assault on the Kaliwungu police chief, Deputy Police Commissioner Nindya Putra Wahyu Nugroho. The attack occurred when the police chief was attempting to disperse a street brawl in the area. This was confirmed by the Kendal police chief, Deputy Police Commissioner Hendry Susanto.

“Two individuals have been arrested. Investigators continue to examine the case in detail,” he stated, as quoted on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

He revealed that the assault on Deputy Commissioner Nindya occurred on Sunday evening, 8 March 2026. According to Hendry, Kaliwungu police station personnel were conducting patrol operations and received a report of a street brawl taking place.

“The officers who arrived to break up the fight were themselves attacked,” he said.

Hendry stated that Deputy Commissioner Nindya was assaulted along with one colleague during the incident. He noted that both officers received medical treatment and are in good condition.

To the public, Hendry appealed for the maintenance of a peaceful environment during Ramadhan. He also called on parents to increase supervision of their children to prevent involvement in street brawls.
