Two Argo Parahyangan Trips Cancelled Due to Train Collision in East Bekasi
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or PT Kereta Api Indonesia Daop 2 Bandung has cancelled two trips of the KA Argo Parahyangan service between Bandung and Gambir (return) following the train collision incident in East Bekasi, Bekasi City, on Monday (27/4) night. The Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, Kuswardojo, stated that the cancellation was made after the incident, which occurred around 20:52 WIB, directly impacted the smooth operation of train services. “We have cancelled part of the journeys for KA Parahyangan 139B from Bandung at 19:25 WIB and KA Parahyangan 140B from Gambir at 23:05 WIB on the Karawang–Gambir route (return),” said Kuswardojo in his statement. “Currently, handling is still ongoing, prioritising the safety of passengers and staff in the field,” he added. KAI also expressed apologies for the disruption to services and condolences for the incident. “We apologise and extend our deepest condolences for the incident,” said Kuswardojo. KAI advised prospective passengers to continue monitoring the latest information on train operations through the company’s official channels to obtain accurate updates. The collision incident occurred in East Bekasi and involved a KRL Commuter Line train on the Jakarta–Cikarang route with the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek on the Jakarta–Surabaya route. All 240 passengers of the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek were reported safe and have been evacuated. Currently, handling is focused on the KRL passengers directly affected. As many as 38 KRL passengers have been taken to hospital for treatment. In addition, KAI confirmed that four KRL passengers died as a result of the accident.
