Two Areas in Bekasi Become Hotbeds for Tramadol, Police Investigate Source of Hard Drug Supply
Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Bekasi City Metro Police, Commissioner Untung Riswaji, is still investigating the distribution routes of schedule G hard drugs such as tramadol and eximer circulating in the Bekasi City area.
“This distribution has not yet been uncovered. But we are still continuing our efforts,” Untung said when confirmed by Kompas.com via message on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
Nevertheless, Untung revealed several transaction patterns that are currently prevalent in Bekasi.
“One of them is someone sitting at a certain point, then approached by others, both adults and children, who then carry out a ‘tempel’ system,” he said.
He mentioned that there are currently two areas with the highest levels of hard drug circulation in Bekasi City.
“The highest at the moment are the Rawalumbu and East Bekasi areas,” Untung stated.
Furthermore, Untung explained that the pattern of illegal hard drug sales has now shifted.
Previously done openly in shops, perpetrators now tend to use a cash on delivery (COD) system.
“This COD method is deliberately used to avoid supervision by officials. This is based on our investigations and monitoring,” he clarified.
From those investigation results, the police continue to develop leads to trace broader networks.
The tracing covers several locations suspected to be distribution points, such as rented houses, grocery stalls, and other places.
Untung emphasised that his side is committed to eradicating the circulation of illegal hard drugs due to their dangerous impact on society.
In addition to enforcement, the police are also opening opportunities for public participation in monitoring.
Residents are asked not to hesitate to report suspicious activities related to the circulation of illegal hard drugs.
“We are open to community groups or residents. Please report to 110 or directly to us, and we will definitely follow up,” he concluded.
