Twilite Orchestra to play at palace
JAKARTA (JP): The Twilite Orchestra, one of the country's best orchestras, has been invited to perform at the State Palace on Aug. 17, in conjunction with the celebrations of Indonesia's Independence Day.
The orchestra, which has spent one month preparing for the show, will comprise 48 people. Led by conductor Addie M.S., it will perform in front of approximately 500 guests, including ambassadors, and distinguished guests from other states, at the state banquet.
According to Twilite's public relations manager, Alex Frits, the orchestra's appearance at the State Palace is arranged by the state's Domestic Affairs.
"We would love to perform in public during this year's celebrations of the country's independence, like a concert in Monas for example, but no one invited us to do that," he explained.
The concert will held from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will be performed outdoors, in the middle of the Palace. The orchestra will present four songs: Bulan Purnama, Sepasang Mata Bola, Bengawan Solo and Jali-Jali. Besides the orchestra, the show will also include traditional dances from the country's 27 provinces.(07)
