TVRI's FIFA Broadcasting Rights Coverage Until 2027
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The President Director of Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI), Fiki Satari, stated that the distribution coverage of the FIFA broadcasting rights held by the broadcaster extends until 2027.
According to a release received in Jakarta on Saturday, Fiki conveyed that the official media and/or broadcasting rights obtained by TVRI from FIFA have a broader scope than a single tournament. He explained that the rights are based on a Media Rights Agreement made in December 2025 and cover a number of FIFA competitions until 2027.
“These rights include the 2026 World Cup, the 2026 U-17 World Cup, and the 2027 Women’s World Cup, with a rights utilisation period starting 180 days before and ending 180 days after the event concludes,” Fiki clarified.
TVRI explained that the acquisition and management of the FIFA broadcasting rights are carried out in accordance with applicable mechanisms and laws. Fiki added that the rights obtained by TVRI are media or broadcasting rights, not rights to manage, organise, or operate FIFA competitions. Therefore, in its implementation, TVRI gains access to the official match feed according to the delivery mechanism set by FIFA.
The FIFA broadcasting rights package obtained by TVRI includes the right to broadcast and distribute in accordance with contract provisions, access to the official match feed, and distribution space through designated official channels. Furthermore, the broadcast distribution coverage is limited to the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia in accordance with FIFA’s broadcasting rights provisions.
Currently, distribution is carried out through three official mediums: free-to-air terrestrial broadcasts on TVRI, official Over-The-Top (OTT) services via Folaplay and MAXStream, and Direct-To-Home (DTH) services via Transvision, K-Vision, and Indovision. TVRI also has the obligation to ensure technical security such as encryption, territorial access restrictions, or transmission arrangements are implemented as part of protecting broadcasting rights and complying with FIFA regulations.
“TVRI provides public access through free broadcasts on TVRI Nasional and TVRI Sport. On the other hand, official OTT and DTH partners offer additional options for the public who require access flexibility through digital devices or satellite services,” said Fiki.
