'TVRI' to air best athletes ceremony

JAKARTA (JP): State-owned TVRI is scheduled to air live a
ceremony to honor 1998's best athletes on April 9 at TVRI's
auditorium.

The ceremony will be jointly staged by the National Sports
Council (KONI), TVRI and the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian
Journalists Association (PWI).

Among the nominees are 13th Asian Games medalists Oka
Sulaksana (windsurfing), Yayuk Basuki (tennis), Ricky
Subagja/Rexy Mainaky (badminton), Arief Taufan Samsudin (karate)
and Supriyati Sutono (athletics).

Five late sports observers -- former KONI chairman Dadang
Suprayogi, former KONI executive director Soeweno, former chief
of the national training center from 1977 to 1995 Arnold
Lisapaly, former chairman of PSMS Medan Kamarudin Panggabean and
former TVRI sports commentator Sambas Mangundikarta -- will get
honors for their lifelong dedication. (yan)
