TVRI Papua Barat Presenter Feared Swept Away at Memti Waterfall, SAR Team Deployed

A search and rescue (SAR) team from Manokwari has launched an operation to find a presenter from the public broadcaster TVRI Papua Barat, Yanto Idorway, who is feared to have been swept away by river currents at the Memti Waterfall in Sisrang Village, Pegunungan Arfak Regency, Papua Barat. The victim was reported missing on Saturday afternoon whilst visiting the tourist site with two friends. Despite immediate rescue attempts by his companions, the strong current prevented his rescue, and he was declared missing. The incident was reported to the local police, who then alerted the Manokwari SAR Office at around 8:30 p.m. local time. According to the Head of the Manokwari SAR Office, Yefri Sabaruddin, the incident is believed to have occurred around 2:00 p.m. WIT. A rescue team departed for the location at 8:52 p.m. WIT, with an estimated land travel time of five to six hours. Upon arrival, the team will coordinate with the Pegunungan Arfak Police before commencing the search operation, which is scheduled to begin on Sunday. The joint SAR operation involves personnel from the Manokwari SAR Office and the Pegunungan Arfak Police, supported by equipment including a thermal drone, five sets of communication devices, and water rescue gear.
