TVRI confirms FIFA broadcasting rights obtained in accordance with applicable mechanisms
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Managing Director of Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) Fiki Satari has confirmed that the broadcaster obtained the FIFA broadcasting rights in accordance with applicable mechanisms and laws. In a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday, Fiki explained that the process included a needs assessment, review of supporting documents, coordination with technical, legal, and financial units, as well as related oversight functions, up to the submission and execution of the budget according to state mechanisms. “The payment process for the broadcasting rights was carried out in accordance with the contract terms and state budget mechanisms. The amount disbursed by the state is the same as the contract value paid to FIFA. TVRI ensures that every stage adheres to the principles of accountability, compliance, and good governance,” said Fiki. Regarding comparisons with other countries, Fiki noted that each country has a different structure of broadcasting rights, number of tournaments, platform coverage, and distribution packages. Therefore, comparisons of broadcasting rights values between countries must use validated official data, including confirmation from FIFA or authorised parties. “We ensure that information conveyed to the public always respects contractual information boundaries. The details of the cooperation contract with FIFA are bound by confidentiality provisions in the agreement,” Fiki stated. Fiki said TVRI appreciates the various inputs that have emerged and views them as a form of public concern so that people can obtain broad, official, and high-quality broadcast access. “We hope that the 2026 World Cup broadcasts can be enjoyed and bring joy to the public,” said Fiki. TVRI is the rights holder in Indonesia for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place from 11 June to 19 July 2026 in 16 host cities across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The Indonesian public can watch the 2026 World Cup through three official mediums: free-to-air terrestrial broadcasts on TVRI, official OTT services via Folaplay and MAXStream, and DTH services through Transvision, K-Vision, and Indovision.
