TV series on police prepared
JAKARTA (JP): Noted Indonesian film producer Wim Umboh is
working on the production of a television series on the
experiences of North Jakarta police personnel.
"The shooting of the first two films will be carried out next
week," the president of PT International Aries Gemini Film &
Production House told The Jakarta Post here over the weekend.
Wim said the first episode in the TV series will give an in-
depth look at the actions of the North Jakarta police detectives
who were searching for a minibus driver wanted for reckless
driving. Thirty-three passengers died when the bus he was driving
plunged into the heavily polluted Sunter river in North Jakarta
in March last year.
The second episode is about a one-eyed robber who committed
several burglaries in a housing complex in Pluit several years
ago.
"Most of the stories are based on facts recorded by the police
here," Wim said.
He expects the TV series to be broadcast on the ANteve
television station.
A TV series on the Indonesian police was recently aired by the
RCTI television station, but only a few viewers showed interest
due to boring story lines and settings. (bsr)
