TV charity is good
TV charity is good
but not accountable
From Bisnis Indonesia
With the relentless difficulties afflicting our country over
the past few years, a number of social activities have emerged,
one of which is fund raising by private television stations.
From the enormous amounts collected, as announced on each
station, it can be deduced with relief that there are still many
who are kind hearted and concerned enough about the welfare of
their fellow citizens to generously donate their money for those
in dire need.
Unfortunately, we never get to see any efforts to ensure
transparency, like accountability reports on the use of the
funds, which are naturally expected by donors.
Strangely, the stations sometimes report on critically sick
people, who cannot afford the costs of medication and so forth.
Why cannot they take care of them immediately with the available
funds in their hands?
Could one apply for help to these television stations, when
one finds someone in trouble? What is the required procedure in
that case? I would appreciate some explanation from the stations.
