Tutor jailed for molesting student

SINGAPORE (AFP): A Singapore court has jailed a 55-year-old
tutor for nine months after convicting him of molesting a
13-year-old Indonesian student, The Straits Times reported
yesterday.

Tan Keng Pong, who has been a tutor for 30 years, was
sentenced yesterday on seven counts of molesting the girl last
year, the newspaper said. A further 13 charges of molesting a 15-
year-old Taiwanese girl are pending against him, it said.

Both girls were former pupils of a primary school where Teo's
wife was the principal, The Straits Times said, adding that the
tutor, who has three children and two grandchildren, was also
their local guardian.
