A joint US-Israel military aggression on Tuesday (7/4/2026) reportedly also targeted residential areas in central Tehran, Iran. The attack resulted in the destruction of a Jewish place of worship, the Rafi Nia Synagogue.

Homayoun Sameh Najafabadi, the representative of the Jewish community in the Iranian parliament and Chairman of the Tehran Jewish Association, strongly condemned the attack. “At the time of our religious holiday, the Israeli entity targeted us and showed no mercy, even to Jews in Iran,” he stated, as quoted by Al Mayadeen on Tuesday.

He explained that the synagogue was completely destroyed, causing the scrolls of the Torah to be buried under the rubble. “This is an action that hurts the hearts of Jews around the world,” he added. Najafabadi stated that Israel’s aggression shows no distinction, whether against Muslims or other religious communities. He also expressed hopes for the victory of the Islamic Republic and eternal peace on a global level.

18 civilians killed

In the context of ongoing attacks on civilians, eighteen people—including children—were reported killed and 24 others injured on Tuesday morning. According to security officials in Alborz Province, the casualties resulted from US-Israel airstrikes that hit densely populated residential areas in Tehran.

Iranian state television stated that the attacks targeted residential areas in the eastern and western parts of Tehran. Other targets included Mehrabad Airport and a major power substation in western Tehran. Additionally, several shops in the Molavi area suffered severe damage from a separate attack.

Elsewhere, security officials in Qom Province revealed that the US-Israel aggression targeted a major bridge outside Qom city. In Isfahan Province, a railway bridge in Kashan was also hit, killing two people and injuring three others.
