Turkiye Says Israel's Attacks Sabotage Gaza Peace Efforts

Moscow (ANTARA) - The Turkish government on Monday assessed that Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip have hindered various diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a ceasefire and peace in the Palestinian territory.

Turkish Presidential Spokesperson Burhanettin Duran said the attacks targeting civilians and health facilities have damaged hopes for achieving a peaceful solution.

“In a period when diplomatic initiatives aimed at reaching a ceasefire and permanent peace in Gaza were beginning to raise hopes, Israel’s latest attacks deliberately targeting civilians and health infrastructure sabotage every effort towards peace,” Duran wrote on the social media platform X.

Duran said the attacks on civilians, including women and children, show that Israel under Benjamin Netanyahu prefers to worsen the situation rather than seek a peaceful resolution.

According to him, the international community needs to take firmer and more effective steps to stop policies deemed to threaten regional stability. The statement was made as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in Gaza continue.

Earlier, on Sunday (2/8), the Israeli military stated it had killed three Palestinian fighters in the Gaza Strip who were accused of planning attacks against Israeli forces.

Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump said on Thursday (30/7) that the “Board of Peace” established by his administration had approved a deal that includes the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in the Gaza Strip.

On 14 January, Washington announced the start of the second phase of Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan for Gaza.

The plan includes the delivery of at least 600 trucks of humanitarian aid per day, the reconstruction of infrastructure in Gaza, and the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee that will operate under the supervision of the Board of Peace.
