Türkiye: Opportunities for US-Iran dialogue remain open despite risks
Ankara — The risk of negotiations failing between the United States and Iran persists, partly due to Israeli policies, yet the opportunity to continue dialogue between the two parties remains open, a source within the Turkish government told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
“The actions of Israel and ongoing tensions in the region pose additional risks to the negotiation process. Nevertheless, the parties have not yet lost the opportunity to continue their dialogue,” the source stated.
The source added that Türkiye hopes to assist in formulating a formula that is mutually acceptable to both the United States and Iran, viewing the diplomatic path as the only way to achieve sustainable outcomes.
“It is still too early to speak of a total deadlock. Contacts are ongoing, and the possibility of finding a compromise remains,” the source remarked.
Türkiye also anticipates that negotiations between the United States and Iran will continue despite the remaining differences in perspective between the two sides, the source added.
Previously, on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered strikes against targets allegedly linked to the Hezbollah group on the outskirts of Beirut, Lebanon. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that the violation of the ceasefire in Lebanon also constitutes a violation of the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
On the same day, following discussions with Netanyahu and representatives of Hezbollah, US President Donald Trump announced that the Lebanese group and Israel would agree to a ceasefire.
