Turkish company PT Evyap Sabun Indonesia has executed an investment worth approximately US$130 million in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The investment is considered to strengthen the palm oil-based industrial value chain, enhance Indonesia’s export competitiveness, and demonstrate high global investor confidence in the national investment climate. The inauguration of Evyap’s production facility was marked by a Grand Opening Ceremony at the Sei Mangkei SEZ on Thursday (2/7/2026).

Acting Secretary General of the National Council for Special Economic Zones, Rizal Edwin Manansang, stated that Evyap’s presence is proof of the SEZ’s success in creating a competitive industrial ecosystem through collaboration between the central government, regional governments, zone administrators, and stakeholders. “This investment is also evidence of the SEZ’s success in building a competitive industrial ecosystem,” Rizal said in an official statement received on Sunday (5/7/2026).

Evyap’s investment further strengthens the contribution of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in SEZ development. Currently, FDI dominates around 73% of total investment in special economic zones, indicating growing investor confidence in SEZs as a platform for export-oriented manufacturing investment. Cumulatively, investment realisation in the Sei Mangkei SEZ from 2012 to the first quarter of 2026 has reached Rp 31.8 trillion and created 14,689 jobs. The zone is considered strategic because it lies on the Malacca Strait international trade route, connecting East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.

The presence of PT Evyap Sabun Indonesia also strengthens the palm oil-based downstream industrial ecosystem. The company stated that this investment is part of a strategy to increase production capacity and expand international markets. Evyap Life Chemistry currently serves more than 600 customers in 55 countries. After a construction process lasting approximately three years since March 2023, the production facility in the Sei Mangkei SEZ is officially operating and producing various oleochemical products such as fatty acids, glycerin, soap noodles, and finished products to meet global demand. “With the support of three production facilities that have a combined capacity of 650,000 tonnes per year,” said Rizal.

The Sei Mangkei SEZ is considered to have several advantages, including the development of industrial clusters based on superior commodities, strong logistics connectivity, investment policy and incentive support, and the implementation of a green zone concept through the use of biomass and biogas energy. Evyap Life Chemistry CEO Saw Lee Chyan said that choosing the Sei Mangkei SEZ helped the company accelerate the construction of production facilities through the various facilities available in the zone. “The existence of the Sei Mangkei SEZ greatly helped us accelerate the construction process so that the production facilities could immediately operate compared to other locations. This is because the Sei Mangkei SEZ offers integrated services as a one-stop solution for industrial estates,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Strategic Investment Downstreaming at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, Heldy Satrya Putera, assessed that Evyap’s investment is a strategic step to strengthen the national downstream industry and domestic supply chain. “This investment also creates quality jobs, develops domestic industrial capabilities, encourages technology transfer, strengthens domestic suppliers, and enhances Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global manufacturing value chain,” said Heldy.
