Turkish Ambassador: 422 GSF volunteers, including 9 Indonesian nationals, repatriated safely

The Turkish Embassy in Indonesia is pleased to announce that the government of the Republic of Turkey has facilitated the release and safe repatriation of Indonesian activists. Nine Indonesian nationals, detained after the attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 by Israeli military forces on 18 May 2026, arrived safely in Istanbul on 21 May 2026.

Turkish Ambassador to Indonesia, Talip Kucukcan, said that in response to the detention of the Indonesian nationals, the governments of the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Indonesia are cooperating and coordinating for the release of the detainees. ‘The Turkish state fully supports the repatriation process of Indonesian citizens and provides all necessary facilities,’ he said in a press statement in Jakarta on Saturday, 23 May 2026.

He noted that Turkey has dispatched three aircraft provided by Turkish Airlines to Israel to transport the safe repatriation of all members of NGOs from 41 countries participating in GSF 2.0. Talip stated that the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that 422 humanitarian volunteers have been repatriated safely and promptly.

‘Six? Wait it’s nine Indonesian nationals among them have returned to Turkey. The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Istanbul met these Indonesian nationals upon their safe arrival,’ Talip said.
