Turkey is reinforcing its position as a global cultural hub with the 2026 edition of the Turkish Culture Route Festival. Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the prestigious event—a member of the European Festivals Association (EFA)—is set to be the largest in its history, spanning 26 cities across the country.

Since its launch in 2021 with the Beyoğlu Culture Route Festival, the initiative has evolved into one of the world’s longest-running cultural events. The 2026 programme will commence in Şanlıurfa on 25 April and conclude in Adana on 15 November, significantly expanding on the 2025 edition which featured 20 cities and over 9,000 events.

A key differentiator for 2026 is a sharpened focus on gastronomy. The government will establish an expert advisory board to identify authentic culinary heritage, while each participating city will appoint a ‘City Chef’ to curate food-related content, promote local dishes, and design specialised gastronomic routes.

The festival is designed to be inclusive, with a strong emphasis on engaging children through outdoor play areas, educational stage performances, and art workshops. Looking ahead, the ministry plans to further expand the festival to 32 cities by 2027, including Hatay, Muğla, and Kocaeli. Full schedules and details are available on the official Culture Route Festivals website and its Instagram account.
