Turkey Places Benjamin Netanyahu on Interpol Wanted List

An Istanbul court has issued an international arrest warrant via Interpol for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom it deems a dangerous criminal. According to a report by the Sabah newspaper on Tuesday, the panel of judges handling the case of the detained Global Sumud Flotilla activists at the 11th Criminal Court of Istanbul decided to place Netanyahu, as the accused, on the Interpol wanted list. In November 2025, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders over the genocide in the Gaza Strip. Turkish authorities opened a new investigation after Israeli forces detained participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla, who were attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza in October. Doctors, including psychologists, who examined the activists after their deportation, presented evidence of crimes against humanity to the court. The Global Sumud Flotilla participants stated they had planned to bring humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in need in Gaza. The Turkish Foreign Ministry previously described the Israeli navy’s actions as piracy, noting that the attack on peace activists constitutes a serious violation of international law. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly condemned Netanyahu amid Israeli attacks on Iran and the Palestinian movement Hamas, reaffirming Ankara’s commitment to supporting nations that are victims of Israeli aggression.
