Turkey hopes US initiatives produce concrete progress for Ukraine

Ankara (ANTARA) - Turkey hopes that the diplomatic process to resolve the Ukraine conflict continues to evolve and that initiatives undertaken by the United States (US) produce concrete progress, according to Turkish government sources speaking to RIA Novosti.

“President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is engaging in dialogue with Western leaders to provide new momentum for negotiations regarding Ukraine. Restoring the negotiation process remains a priority for the Turkish leader,” the source stated.

According to the source, Turkey hopes that the initiatives of the US administration will yield concrete results in the efforts to drive a resolution to the Ukraine conflict.

Previously, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Sergey Vershinkin, stated that Russia appreciates the current US administration’s efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict based on an understanding of the root causes of the conflict.

On 5 September, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with US Presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, at the Kremlin.

The meeting lasted approximately three hours. During the meeting, Putin emphasised the need to address all the root causes of the Ukraine conflict, according to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov.

A day later, US negotiators arrived in Kyiv by train from Poland. Ukrainian media reported that the negotiations took place in several stages, with representatives from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany joining at one of the stages.
