Turkey denies attack allegations, affirms no US military base presence
Ankara – Turkey’s presidential administration on Monday denied reports claiming an alleged attack on a US military base in the country, affirming that no foreign military bases exist on Turkish territory.
“The claims circulating on social media about ‘US military base attacked in Turkey’ are incorrect. There is no military base in Turkey owned by any country,” the statement read.
The administration emphasised that Turkish airspace, land, territorial waters, and military facilities remain entirely under the control and sovereignty of the state.
“There has been no attack on our country. Reports made to portray Turkey as a party to regional conflict represent obvious disinformation,” it stated.
On Saturday (28 February), the United States and Israel launched a series of attacks against Iranian targets, including Tehran, resulting in damage and civilian casualties. In response, Iran launched missile strikes against Israeli territory and also targeted US military infrastructure in the Middle East region.
