Tulungagung Traffic Police Open Ramadan SIM Services
Services opened ahead of sunset to permit breaking the fast have drawn a strong response, with around 20 applicants utilising the SIM extension facility in just one hour. The head of the Tulungagung Police’s SATPAS, Bripka Muchamad Miftahurrohman, said the Ramadan SIM service is a community outreach programme during the holy month of Ramadan. ‘This programme is organised so that the public can renew their SIM while waiting for iftar or ngabuburit,’ he said. He explained that technically the service is similar to the SIM Keliling (Simling) mobile SIM service usually conducted by Tulungagung’s Satpas Police. However, the difference lies in the timing, adjusted to the Ramadan period. The Ramadan SIM service at MPP opens from 16:00 to 17:00 WIB and is specifically for renewals of SIM. For new SIM issuances, the public still needs to attend the Satpas office in Tulungagung. During the one-hour service, around 20 residents filed for SIM renewals. According to Miftahurrohman, the Ramadan SIM programme is planned to be held six times during Ramadan with locations rotating. The service locations will target busy spots such as tourist attractions, government offices, and centres of community activity. In addition to SIM renewal, attendees also received takjil from officers as part of the service to fasting residents. ‘We do not limit the quota. Whoever comes will be served, and we will also provide takjil for breaking the fast,’ he said.
