Tulungagung Regent wears KPK detainee vest and apologises
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo wore an orange vest identifying him as a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detainee and apologised after being officially named a suspect in the alleged corruption extortion case. “I apologise,” Gatut said briefly, as he was led out of the Red and White Building in Jakarta in the early hours of Sunday by KPK officers. He exited the KPK’s Red and White Building alongside his aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, who was also named a suspect in the extortion case. The pair were then escorted by KPK officers to a detention vehicle and taken to the branch detention centre at the KPK’s Red and White Building. At the time, Gatut had little to say and did not respond to questions from the media. With his hands handcuffed, he walked to the detention vehicle while being guarded by several KPK officers. The KPK will subsequently detain the suspects for the initial 20 days from 11 to 30 April 2026. In the case, the KPK secured cash amounting to Rp335.4 million during a raid operation (OTT). GSW is also alleged to have received a total of Rp2.7 billion, including the seized amount, from extorting several officials in the Tulungagung Regency government environment. In addition, the KPK seized four pairs of Louis Vuitton shoes estimated at Rp129 million and other electronic evidence items.
